PLAYMAKERS‘ INTENSIVE

A picture of the logo of TBTB's 2020 first annual virtual playmakers intensive. The event name is Pandem-Mania and the logo has details at the bottom of it.

Founded in 2011 by Ike Schambelan where artists (writers, directors, and actors) can create new work. The original idea for this workshop was a 24-hour bootcamp where each group met for the 1st time one day and they presented the play the next day. However, it transitioned to a week-long intensive so artists can refine their work. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the PLAYMAKERS’ INTENSIVE was done online, and it became the VIRTUAL PLAYMAKERS’ INTENSIVE! This process was an adjustment, and the writers were required to write each play for the Zoom platform. It was a great success and added the benefit of working with many actors virtually who may not be in the same time zone.

PLAYMAKERS’ REDUX

Founded in 2018, TBTB picks and commissions a handful of plays from the PLAYMAKERS’ INTENSIVES and allows the artists to make the plays longer, providing an opportunity to polish their work. During the third PLAYMAKERS’ REDUX, some of the plays from the virtual intensive were produced for the stage!

There is a group of people who are both standing and sitting in a line and they are waiting patiently on their phones.

SHORT PLAYS FESTIVAL

Founded in 2011, this festival fostered the collaboration of TBTB with known writers and actors in a full-production run. Also, this festival may feature plays from TBTB’s PLAYMAKERS’ INTENSIVES and PLAYMAKERS’ REDUXE
