Transcendency Rising: Short Plays About Defying Limitations
After a nine-year absence, we are happy to announce that TBTB will once again be presenting our short play festival this spring. The upcoming festival will be titled “Transcendency Rising: Short Plays About Defying Limitations” and will run at Theatre Row’s Theatre Five in New York City from March 21 through April 11, 2026 — showtimes and playwrights TBA.
4 WARNED: FOUR SHORT PLAYS BY PETER MARK
TBTB presents a staged reading of 4 Warned, four short plays by Peter Mark. Peter Mark is one of TBTB’s original company members and has served as one of our resident playwrights for more than three decades. It is directed by Graydon Gund and feature performances by Fred Backus, Veronica Cruz, Sergio Hugolini, Aya Ibaraki, Grant Neale, and Melanie Portsche. These readings are being held on October 5th at 6pm at 353 Studios (353 West 48th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue). As always, it is wheelchair accessible. Come and support your TBTB artists!!! Herb Tucker, a struggling, middle-aged screenwriter with writer’s block, receives an unexpected surprise, when his daughter, Libby, whom he abandoned along with the rest of his Brooklyn family 16 years earlier, arrives at his West Hollywood home with aspirations of breaking into the movie business. Libby, who barely remembers her father, not only forces Herb to reexamine the responsibilities of parenthood, but also makes him come to terms with his on-again/off-again relationship with his current girlfriend, Steffy.
